The Trumpeter, 1961. (In Southampton City Art Gallery)
Behold, I tell you a mystery; we shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet; for the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we shall be changed.
- 1 Corinthians 15:51- 52
The Breaking of the Fifth Seal, 1962.
The inspiration for this comes from The Book of Revelations. Breaking the first four seals revealed the venomous forces that dominate the world of man. These are; Corruption of the Word of God, Warmongering, Economic Injustice and Ungodliness. When the fifth seal was broken the martyrs of Roman persecution were found hidden under the altar. The martyrs, including Christians, Muslims, and the other righteous of other Faiths, were given white robes and told to wait until the martyrs of the Aquarian age had also had their blood shed.
Ecce Homo, 1962.
Ecce Homo or 'Behold the Man' is what Pilot said during the trial of Jesus. Thus this is a depiction of Jesus accused before the people.
